ThermoWood® Ayous creates a sheltered outdoor space in Thessaloniki

Architect: Chrysanthi Karta

Wood type: ThermoWood®  Ayous

Durability class: 1

Year: 2024

A canopy was created over the balconies of a flat in Thessaloniki, surrounding the interior spaces. This outdoor space now acts as an open-air living room.

The balconies, protected by the canopy, provide ample opportunity for relaxation, while ensuring maximum visual connection with the surrounding area. Residents can enjoy a 180-degree view of the city from this sheltered, panoramic space.

LDCwood® ThermoWood® ayous is highly durable

At the central balcony opening, the pergola connects the inside and outside, allowing plenty of light into the house. The interplay of light and shade created by the pergola gives the architecture a dynamic character. The modern design of the canopy provides aesthetic harmony and pleasant shade.

Using LDCwood® ThermoWood® ayous for the canopy's roofing and the pergola's wooden beams plays a crucial role. This material is renowned for its low maintenance requirements, long lifespan of over 25 years, and dimensional stability. These qualities contribute to the durability and aesthetic appeal of the design.
