At Aalst station, train passengers will be able to park their bikes or cars in the new bicycle storage facility and the new multi-storey car park at the back of the station from February 2021 onwards. These facilities are fully covered, secure and easy to reach for people coming from or going to the station.
The new bicycle storage facility is fully covered and offers space for 700 bicycles. Both regular and oversized bicycles can be stored there. There are 900 parking spaces spread over six floors.
The new multi-storey car park will have six levels, with a wood and glass finish for a natural look.
Lemahieu Group and LDCwood® provided 125 m3 of planed and CNC-machined panels in ThermoWood® pine. Thanks to our fire-retardant treatment with Burnblock® and after performing an end-use test, this specific façade has been shown to comply with Reaction to Fire classification B-s2,d0.
The consortium PSR-Jan De Nul Group & BesixRED-Besix was responsible for the development and construction of these new facilities.
About the project
A magnificent project! We are proud of our contribution with the delivery of 125 m3 of planed and CNC machined ThermoWood® pine boards. Thanks to our fireproof treatment with Burnblock® and after performing an end-use test, this specific façade arrangement meets the fire reaction class B-s2,d0.
The new parking garage will have seven above-ground levels and one underground level. The building will be finished with wood and glass for a more natural look. There will be room for 900 cars.
