ThermoWood® Pine adds a natural touch to the 'Aux Parcs' housing project in Charleroi
In the heart of Charleroi-North, a new chapter in public housing has begun. The 'Aux Parcs' development, inaugurated by La Sambrienne, stands as a model for socially inclusive, environmentally responsible urban design.
Spread across five green residential clusters, the development prioritizes open space, shared gardens, and soft mobility pathways that reconnect the site to nearby Lambert Park. It’s a neighborhood designed for people — and for the future.
We are proud that LDCwood's ThermoWood® Pine was selected for the facade cladding of the 61 high-performance housing units.
The architectural team from BOB361 envisioned a calm, green neighborhood that reconnects residents to nature while offering high-quality, affordable homes. For the facades and outdoor living spaces, ThermoWood® Pine was chosen — valued for its natural beauty, dimensional stability, and ease in maintenance. This thermally modified wood brings a warm natural presence to the buildings, while reinforcing the project’s ecological ambitions.
Fire retardant treatment
To meet strict public housing fire regulations, the ThermoWood® was treated with the fire retardant, Burnblock® by Lemahieu Fire Protection®. This ensures that the ThermoWood meets safety standards without compromising the aesthetics or environmental integrity of the project.
Our ThermoWood® Pine is always FSC® or PEFC-certified and modified without chemicals, making it a circular, climate-conscious building solution. Its minimal maintenance requirements and long service life also support the project's low-impact, long-term sustainability goals.
