Lemahieu Group and Decolvenaere create LDCwood

Timber importers Lemahieu and Decolvenaere join forces to start LDCwood®, a 50/50 joint venture that will specialize in thermally modified wood. The new company will be located in Ostend, and will invest 4 million euros in a new production plant. LDCwood® will start producing ThermoWood® in the spring of 2017.

The company is a pioneer on the Belgian market, but also a breath of fresh air for the timber industry as a whole. For the very first time, two established wood importers will bring together their vision on quality and service: Lemahieu as an importer of softwood and a specialist in wood processing and Decolvenaere as an importer of African timber.

Member of The International Thermowood® Association

LDCwood® will be the first official producer of ThermoWood® in Belgium. As a member of the International ThermoWood® Association, the company is prepared for the future. LDCwood® will start with thermally modifying ayous, and will later expand their assortment with other species of timber.

Mike Lemahieu and Daphné Decolvenaere agree: “Since our companies specialize in complementary tasks, LDCwood® is a logical next step for both of us. We are combining our expertise in an ingenious way, which gives us the opportunity to commercialise unique products on the European market. By bringing thermally modified wood to Belgium, our customers will benefit of a fast service and of the guarantee of a constant inventory level.”
